I began practicing family medicine back when the family doctor was more like Dr. Marcus Welby, someone who cared about his patients and who devoted as much time to the patient as they needed. But over time the practice of medicine for many practices has evolved into a business where the hospital or insurance company that owns the practice dictates to the doctor has much time they can spend with the patient or how many patients the doctor has to see in a day. That is not the kind of practice I have. I own my own practice and no one tells me how many patients I have to see in a day or how long I can see them. I have many patients that I have been seeing for decades and they know when they come to the office I will spend as much time with them as it takes to address all of their concerns.
